The Most Gorgeous Thing

There I was, just waiting there

For the light to turn green before I lost all my hair.

Then I saw across the square,

The most gorgeous thing there could be anywhere.

She looked at me, and I could swear

Truer love never lived more than what we did share.

Then the light cut through our stare

And I lost her within that surging traffic nightmare.

Oh goodness, no! I've got to find her!

Please, God, answer my prayer!

Where did she go? How could I lose her?

Life can be so unfair!

Now you know that tempting snare,

Searching day after day for that love oh so rare!

So, you laugh! But could you bear

If the jewel of your heart disappeared in thin air?

I tell you now, you couldn't take it!

You would search everywhere!

And when that failed, you wouldn't face it!

Who could take such despair!

So there I was, just sitting there,

Forcing down my last bite before paying my fare,

When did appear beside my chair

The most gorgeous thing there could be anywhere!

She smiled at me, and I declare,

Truer love never lived more than what we did share.

Then someone laughed, and I did swear,

For the throne of my love stood completely bare.

Oh goodness, no! I've got to find her!

Please, God, answer my prayer!

Where did she go? How could I lose her?

Life can be so unfair!
